DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN A03 (ARCHIVE OF OUR OWN) ACCOUNT TO PARTICIPATE?
Yes. This is one point we are not flexible on, even though we are willing to be flexible on most everything else. The reveals will be part of a collection on A03, so everyone must have an A03 account. If you do not, you will not be able to add your piece to the collection. If you don't have an account, you must get one as soon as possible because they can take a few weeks to be accepted and verified, and we don't want any hold ups at the end of the event.
DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A DISCORD ACCOUNT TO PARTICIPATE?
Yes. Having to send announcements and updates to people on several different forms of social media is time consuming and confusing, so we're asking everyone to get a Discord account if you haven't already (they're free). The admins are regularly on Discord and can answer any questions quickly, unlike some other forms of social media which might take a while longer for them to see your question and for them to respond. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING COMES UP AND I HAVE TO PULL OUT OF THE EVENT?
Please let us know as soon as possible. If you are working together with another writer/artist, we will need to inform them and make necessary arrangements straight away so as not to hold them up in their creating. If you're working on a solo piece, please still let us know as soon as possible so that we can remove your details from the list. This will avoid any unnecessary or accidental communications throughout the remainder of the event.
WILL FAN VIDEOS (BETWEEN 2-5MIN LONG) QUALIFY FOR BIG BANG CONTENT OR IS IT PRIMARILY GOING TO BE WRITING/ILLUSTRATED ART?
Absolutely! Anything creative can be considered art, and we very much encourage it. Videos, illustrated art, cosplay, song writing, manips, you name it, we want to see it! Show us your creative talent.
IS THIS A SHIP SPECIFIC EVENT?
No. We didn't want to exclude anyone, so we have made this an open event for all ships. We've even opened it to folks who don't want to work with a ship or pairing at all and just want to do a piece with one character or a group. Whatever you would like to do, we're happy for you to do it. The idea of this Big Bang is to get more Arcane out there into the world in any way, shape, or form.
HOW DO I ADD MY CREATION TO A03?

CAN I POST MY ART/FIC TO MY SOCIAL MEDIA AS SOON AS IT'S DONE?
No. You can save a piece of art to your drafts, but you cannot reveal a piece until it has been revealed through AO3 by the staff. Once your piece has been posted to the collection on AO3, the staff will give you your reveal date. The earlier you post, the earlier your creation will be revealed.
CAN I POST AN INCOMPLETE WORK AND ADD TO IT LATER?
No. Your piece must be completed to be added to the collection. You can edit it all you want after the fact, but this is not the place for draft work or partial fics. The one exception is that if you create a fic which can be complete as is, but you later decide to add to it (to turn a standalone piece into a multi-chapter piece or perhaps to show a "five years later" type of addition to the original fic, you can do that.
CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC REVEAL DAY/DATE?
Yes. However, people who post first will get priority on their posting dates. If someone already has posted and been given a release date, we will not bump them. Also, we won't leave several days with no posts because someone wants a particular date. Your posting earlier in the event will allow us to allow for requested dates.
CAN I GET AN EXTENTION IF I CAN'T MAKE THE DEADLINE?
Within a given timeframe, yes. We have already planned in an extra two weeks between final posting and reveals starting to allow the staff to finalize the release calendar and make sure all posts are showing properly on the collection. If you contact us before the deadline on November 15th, we can give you an extension. However, it is extremely unlikely that we will grant an extension that goes beyond November 30th. If there is a true emergency or circumstances beyond your control, we are willing to consider a later extension, but that must be discussed on a case by case basis.
I PARTNERED WITH SOMEONE, AND I'M FINISHED WITH MY PIECE AND HAVE POSTED IT TO THE COLLECTION, BUT MY PARTNER HAS NOT. CAN MY PIECE BE RELEASED WITHOUT THEIRS?
No. If you have partnered with someone, you must both post and link each other's posts before you will be given a reveal date. If your partner drops out or you would like to dissolve that partnership, please, let the staff know that you will be posting singularly so we can update our records and give you a reveal date.
I DIDN'T CHOSE TO PARTNER WITH SOMEONE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EVENT BUT WOULD LIKE TO DO SO NOW. CAN I?
Yes, assuming you have not already been given a reveal date. If you have, reach out and let us know. We'll make an exception if we can, but it will depend on the posting schedule.
SIGN-UPS HAVE CLOSED, BUT I KNOW SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO SIGN UP. CAN THEY?
Maybe. We want to try to be flexible, and if this is early in the event, they have their AO3 account, have chosen a project, and are ready to go, we'll likely allow it. This will be decided on a case by case basis.
DO I NEED TO APPLY, OR IS THERE A SELECTION PROCESS TO QUALIFY?
No. This event is open to everyone who wants to create using the characters from or the universe of Arcane. Whether you've been in fandom for twenty-five years or joined last week, we welcome you.
